An atlas, not an oracle
Trade Filings maps institutional ownership of U.S. securities from primary SEC filings: quarterly 13F portfolios for a tracked universe of large and prominent managers, a filing index covering every 13F filer, insider transactions from Forms 3/4/5, and beneficial-ownership stakes from Schedules 13D and 13G.
The premise: the SEC already publishes who owns what. What's missing is legibility — the filings are scattered across tens of thousands of documents, quarter-over-quarter changes require careful comparison logic (amendments, splits, comparable universes), and naive readings mislead. This site does that work and shows it: every derived number has a methodology page, every aggregate names its universe and period, and every filing links back to the original document on EDGAR.
What this site is not: it does not give advice, rate securities, rank managers by skill, or predict anything. 13F data is delayed by design and shows only reportable U.S. long positions — the caveats live next to the numbers they affect, because the caveat is part of the number.
The engraved atlas-plate artwork across the site — the library hall, the records room, the astrolabe — is original illustration generated for this site; no plate depicts a real place or event, and none is reused between sections.
The site is part of an independent family of research properties covering preferred stocks, REITs, dividends and emerging markets — linked in the footer. Corrections and questions: Contact.
